Working on my website today, and it’s a good move for several reasons.
First—crowdfunding. When you’re asking people to support a project before a single frame has been filmed, having a website is absolutely invaluable. It provides a dedicated, professional space where you can lay out the heart and soul of your project. It’s not just about asking for support—it’s about connecting with your audience on a deeper level. The website gives you the opportunity to share the story behind the story and provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what you’re building. People want to know not just what you're creating, but why it matters and how it aligns with their own values. This platform becomes an essential stage where you can communicate your vision, your passion, and the purpose of your work in a way that social media simply can't capture. It allows you to build a meaningful, long-lasting connection with your audience—personal yet professional, intimate yet expansive, and filled with incredible potential.

For The Flight of Raven, I’m using the website to deconstruct the project, offering an inside look at what it’s all about—layer by layer. It’s not just about showcasing what the final film will look like; it’s about inviting people to dive deeper into the story, into the process, and into the inspiration that sparked it all. I’ll share the genesis of the idea, the motivations that drove me to pursue this documentary, and the values that continue to shape the narrative. Think of it as the place where the magic starts to take shape long before the first shot is even filmed. It’s where I’ll sketch out the vision, give context to the people and events that inspired the film, and share my creative journey in real-time.

This is more than just a platform for financial support—it’s an opportunity to build a community of like-minded individuals who share in this vision. It’s about fostering a sense of belonging and participation, where everyone who comes on board becomes part of the story. I want to inspire potential backers not only to invest in the project but to see the profound impact this story can have—both in terms of preserving local history and telling a narrative that’s not often heard. The website is my chance to give them a deeper understanding of the story I’m telling and the people I’m telling it for. It’s my way of letting them see the passion and vision driving the project and offering them a chance to be a part of something bigger than just a film—it’s about community, culture, and connection.

At the end of the day, the goal is simple: to create something that matters. To craft a documentary that resonates, tells an important story, and leaves a lasting impact. And to do all of that with people who care enough to join me on this incredible journey. It’s not just about the destination—it’s about the adventure, the community we build along the way, and the shared experience of seeing a meaningful project come to life.
